Female Heroes as Male Heroes
Oct. 9th, 2013 06:58 amThe other night, while watching yet another bad horror movie, I was doodling on my sketchpad. I was drawing a male figure and I suddenly wondered what he would look like dressed in Wonder Girl's classic costume. Some female heroes wear skimpy outfits that don't look good if worn by a male counterparts. Can you imagine a guy in Wonder Woman's bustier? Yeah, it comes off as pure cross-dresser.
However, some of them are not so bad. I drew a couple and colored them to see how they'd look.

Wonder Girl's classic outfit actually looks like it could be a decent man's costume. Of course, I took some artistic liberty in giving him a beard and a hairy chest, but then it is how I'd see him. After seeing how this one turned out, I questioned how a male "Starfire" would look. And...

This one doesn't look so great. Starfire's armored bikini doesn't fit a male hero as well, though I do think it could have possibilities with a bit of redesign. As it stands, the male, bearish Starfire looks like a cross between Hagrid, Grizzly Adams, and some 70's glam rock star. However, I am impressed that I remembered the costume completely from memory.
I may try another some time.
