Lawn Work and The Call
Apr. 10th, 2013 09:22 pmWith the incoming threat of rain over the next two days, I decided to cut out of work early to mow my yard for the first time this year. Today was probably the best weather-wise we've had in a while.
Once I got the lawn done, I showered and took a short nap. When I got up, I decided to head over to the movies. On Wednesdays, the Rave in Florence, KY charges $5 for all flicks, all day. My boss and our secretary saw The Call and both really enjoyed it, so I grabbed an early evening showing based on their recommendations.
Halle Berry stars as a 911 operator who answered a call where a young woman was abducted and killed. This event haunts her until six months later it happens again. She then spends much of the movie trying to direct the kidnappee to give clues to where she is being held.
The first 3/4th of the movie is pretty suspenseful, I thought. The movie climaxes in the last 1/4, but the ending I thought was pretty incongruent with the rest of the film. I didn't care for the ending. It was unexpected, a twist, but not a great one. Still it was worth a $5 showing.
We're over the hump in the week. I hope the rest of the week quickly flies.
