The Dream of a Comedic Mystery
Jun. 25th, 2012 05:31 amLast night's dream was an odd one, but most of them are.
It was like watching a 1970's mystery movie. An uncle of a high society family disappeared under odd circumstances and I was asked to help find him. Of course, I also was secretly a superhero, fitting with the theme of the movie.
As the mystery unfolded in his mansion, ghostly things began to happen, like floating objects on obvious wires and strong winds coming through suddenly open windows. The suspects included the dead uncle's three sisters, a bumbling overweight, foreign housekeeper, and a very sad tween nephew. In one instance, the housekeeper saw the dead uncle float up in a pond on his property. In true comic fashion, the housekeeper screamed, threw on a bathing cap she pulled from hammerspace, and pulled off her tearaway uniform revealing a one-piece bathing suit. She dived into the pond only to find his body had vanished.
Each of the uncle's sisters found a suitor and the uncle was revealed to have faked his "death" in order to bring his "killers" out. The villains turned out to be the caterers who was looking for the hidden safe or whatever.
In the final moments of the "movie," I was in a back room doing the typical Wonder Woman spin to turn into my superhero persona. In going with the comedic theme of the movie, my uniform would never appear quite right and I kept transforming in an effort to get it right. Eventually, I gave up and met the rest of the cast in the living room as myself as the mystery had already been solved and the villains caught.
Then I woke up to the true horror. It is Monday morning.
