Christmas Cards & Customer Service
Nov. 21st, 2011 01:55 pmI got my Christmas card designs done a couple of weeks ago. Normally, I take these to a local Kinko's and have them printed, one set of "naughty" cards and one set of "nice" cards. The naughty ones are for the bears, the nice ones are for my straight friends and family. This is my naughty card from 2007. One of my favorites.
I've done this for a few years now and I admit they are fun. So I went to Kinko's and was "helped" by two early 20-something's who could barely load the computer images. They told me that they would have their manager do them later.
Later that day, I got an email from the manager with attachments of the finished cards. He sent a follow-up email 30 seconds later letting me know he corrected the spelling of "Hanukkah" on the first draft. My confidence in him was dropping. So I drove over to the office and he rushed through the order and wanted me to sign a proof when he didn't have one. I said that I wouldn't do that, so he promised to send me an email of the new proofs on Thursday. Thursday came and went with no proofs.
I decided to go elsewhere this past Saturday. I went to another Kinko's that I've used when I get the file copy of my comic book printed. She downloaded the images and got the information I wrote for the card insides. I stopped by yesterday to sign the proofs and they were perfect.
As I was running about doing errands this morning, I got a phone call from Kinko's #1, letting me know that I could stop by and see the proofs anytime today. I told her that the proofs were due on Thursday and since I didn't get them, I had them printed elsewhere. I told her to cancel the order.
I dropped by Kinko's #2 after lunch and picked up the cards. They're exactly what I asked for and I even got a 35% discount because of a coupon.
Definitely a good start to the upcoming holidays.
