Friday Bits & Pieces

Ugh... there is nothing worse than a summer cold. Apparently I caught it during my trip down to Dalton, GA last week. By Monday my voice started to get deeper and scratchy. At first I chalked it up to allergies and being tired, but it's progressively gotten worse. This morning I couldn't get up and make it to work. You know that feeling. That fine line between "I'll cope with it" and "I need rest" got crossed. I do wish the "Barry White" quality in my voice would stay without being sick.

So after five more hours of sleep, I'm up. I'm missing the Halloween costume contest at work, but I didn't have anything ready. Still I'm curious what showed up. The new folks are creative, but one of them stopped by my office yesterday to ask what I was doing. My Brownie Scout outfit from two years ago still lingers as one of the most memorable.

Last night, I was watching another 70's horror flick Cannibal Girls, staring a very young Eugene Levy and Andrea Martin. It wasn't great, but it was fun for what it was -- cheap and easy. I bought a large 12" x 18" newsprint pad to draw on, similar to what I remember using back in first grade, so I've been doodling on it.

With nothing specific coming to mind, I started a sketch of a guy coming out of the mud or water and it ended up turning into this. I think it as my "one never knows what may come out of my inkpen" cartoon. I should buy stock in Sharpie's.
