kybearfuzz: (Dreaming)
I just had a mid-morning nap dream. I suspect part of it was fueled by my intentions for the week off.

My Haunted Mansion -- cut for the uninterested )

After dealing with a couple of harrowing projects at work that finally came to a rest, I decided I should take advantage of the moment and schedule some vacation time. I have four weeks of "use it or lose it" leave I've not touched, so it's best I get started. So I'm off work until Monday, July 26th, with my boss' blessing. She recognizes burnout when she sees it.

With no definitive plans, I decided to stick close by the house and do all the odds and end projects that I've been putting off. My goal was to do at least one project a day for the next few days. Yesterday, I went to Home Depot to pick out colors to repaint the spare bedrooms and check out replacement storm doors. I dragged the old downstairs couch to the curb and went to the furniture store to get the chair and ottoman that matches my couch. I've waited too long and it's now it has been discontinued. So there is another new project, to find a chair that "matches" the living room.

Today, I took a mid-morning nap. My back hurt from moving the couch yesterday, so I slept in. Today's project was to replace the outside house lights. When I moved into my house ten years ago, I broke one of them trying to get it open to replace the bulb (don't ask). Knowing I couldn't find a replacement that looked like it (they are original to the house, from 1978) and not entirely comfortable with electrical wiring, I held off. So today, with renewed bravery, I bought a new light for the porch. Just remember -- black to black, white to white, and ground to ground (in terms of wires). I moved the old porch light to the garage where the old one was broken, next to its twin. It took twice as long as the paperwork said, but the end result works.

So what's up for tomorrow? Maybe the storm door... depending on time...
