kybearfuzz: (Bill the Cat)
First, I really have to say that I’m irritated that my work continues to quota my time on LJ, but gives me free reign on Facebook. Normally, I would keep LJ open in the background and just read or respond to things whenever I had a free moment. Now I have to wait. Posting entries is difficult because my quota is in ten-minute increments, which is hard as typing up something more than a paragraph eats up that limit. I’ve found a way around it in that I can type them up in Word and copy-paste them over, but still…

Anyway, today was another dentist visit. It was supposed to be just a cleaning, but turned into a full-scale, x-ray-o-rama as they needed updates to my file. The cleaning was not pleasant, but it had been a while. I’ve often felt like they are complaining to me about the build-up on my teeth, even though I brush/floss twice a day. I always think that in the tech or dentist’s mind that I’m brushing with molasses, gargling with Kool-Aid, and flossing with Twizzlers.

While he wants to replace a couple of fillings and shoot me up with numbing agents again, I have to admit that I like this dentist. I have gone to many dentists only one time because I didn’t like how I was treated. At one past dental office, I had a snot-nosed, Britney-wannabe receptionist publicly chastise me about my then-crappy dental insurance in front of a room full of patients. Another went on and on about my insurance so much that I made a point to tell the dentist that he was going to get paid no matter what, but that I felt the office’s concern was payment not care of my needs. In either case, I didn’t go back for a follow-up.

This dentist seems very professional. He makes no judgments and doesn’t try to sway you to one treatment path over another. He does give me grief and act like I’m not caring for my teeth. All payment and cost info is discussed with me upfront and privately (my insurance is much better now, by the way). So while I’m not crazy about visiting the dentist at all (with apologies to any dentists out there, or their kids, who might be my LJ friends), at least I know he’s a good dentist.

I'm off to gargle with Kool-Aid, er... salt water... Darn those sore gums.
