Movies and Politics
Mar. 17th, 2010 07:43 amI really should pay more attention to my Netflix queue. I often get movies that I put in there awhile ago and forgot to remove. I usually watch a good movie while I'm drawing and doodling in the evenings.
Last week I received Blackbeard's Ghost, a Disney flick starring Dean Jones. Sometime back I watched one of his other Disney movies, "The Ugly Dachshund." During one of those bored moments on Wikipedia, I looked up Dean Jones' entry, which says that besides his movie work, he worked on Broadway. I also found that sometime in the 1970's he became born-again and more recently testified in favor of an amendment to the US Constitute to define marriage as between one man and one woman. I'm sure he just wants to save marriage from the damage that same-sex marriage would cause, never minding any damage his first divorce could have done to said sanctity, but I digress.
It may sound petty, but knowing that he's involved in something I find so unfair and distasteful, it makes it hard for me to enjoy his work in movies anymore. I had planned to remove the movie from my queue, but forgot. Now I had it and decided to just send it back.
