More Quick Toonage

Mondays may be new toon days for me.

The problem with finishing a big job like the comic book is that I go for a few days where I don't want to draw. It's odd because while I'm doing the comic book, I often think of other things to draw, but hold back because I want to get the one done. I'm finally falling back into the groove of random cartoons again. This one has Growl the Barbarian again. He might become a regular diversion, like Bitchie Ann McSourpuss (possibly NWS link), of whom I've been itching to draw again, probably in time for Valentine's Day.

I was discussing an idea with squirreltot the other night online, so I have an idea what might pop up here next, depending on how this week at work goes.

Just a warning, there's no cut here, but if you blow up the image, there is some side butt in the toon.

Weekend Stuff

Saturday night was the monthly game night at the house of a couple of friends of mine. Potluck dinner, board games, video games, etc. I was very impressed by one guys singing voice on "Rock Band" and everyone seemed to join in singing "Call Me" by Blondie. The only negative of the evening was the heartburn and indigestion from overindulging on the food during the night.

Yesterday, I went to see Legion. I was hesitant to see this flick because the idea of putting God in a negative light is unappealing to me. Most of the time when religious themes are made the bad guy, it's a church. I don't mind this as much as I think a lot of church groups and organizations (not ALL of them, so don't toss your holy water yet) can be viewed as corrupt or at least corruptable. I grew up in a Baptist church that basically preached God's love mixed with a healthy dose of "if y'all don't believe as we do, you'll burn in hell forever..."

This one though had God at the forefront, sending his angels to exterminate the human race because we sort of made ourselves unlovable. One angel rebels, falls to earth, clips his wings, and has a plan to save our butts. It stars (in a supporting role) Charles S. Dutton ("Roc" from TV) who I have always enjoyed. The special effects are fun and except for the choice of Antagonist, it was pretty much a typical action flick. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending, which I wont give away.

It's not a movie I'd buy, but it was good for an afternoon's diversion.
