This past weekend I ate at Qdoba (shuddup Tim!) and stopped by the local comic book shop to get a couple of issues that had been out that week. It was around noon on Saturday and the store wasn't crowded, just me, the two clerks and one other shopper. He was my height, in a grey tee-shirt and gray sweats, balding with furry arms and a huge belly. What struck me most about him is that he talked to himself as he was looking through the comics, almost like giggling. He wasy enjoying himself apparently.

I was looking through a box when he went to the counter and was checking out. The employee was the store owner's wife. The conversation between them went something like this:

Comic Book Guy: OMG! Did you see the last issue where Necron rises with the giant scythe over the New Coast City?! It was like cool! Zombies just rising up everywhere!
Clerk: No, I didn't see that.
Comic Book Guy: You so missed it! It was great! Dead bodies and things! Blackest Night rocks!
Clerk: It sounds like it.
Comic Book Guy: What guy wouldn't like that sort of stuff! It just was awesome!
Clerk: Okay.

Even though I couldn't see her, I could feel her eyes rolling with everything he said. Bless her, I know she just works there and doesn't read them.

I'm not necessarily poking fun at him as I often have my comic book geek-out moments, but he seemed to take it to an extreme, everything he said punctuated with several exclamation points. And publicly. I wondered what in the world he must do for a living.

The negative of getting a new swipe door badge for work is that most of the time the photo used looks like something from the DMV. We get to take the photos in the office, but for some reason, once they leave here and are emailed to the office that makes them, the end result is generally horrible. I think they have special software to make them ugly(er). I downloaded this photo from [livejournal.com profile] mikiedoggie, who took the shot on my recent, fleeting visit to Chicago. Luckily, the badging place managed to keep it in relatively good shape.

Maggie as LOL CatI was looking on my iPhone and saw this photo of Maggie the cat. As Murphy tends to get a lot of blog time, Maggie tends to get very little. This is due mostly in part to her less social personality. I decided to play with the photo a bit and see what Maggie would look like as an LOL cat.
