From the Traveling Sketchbook
Sep. 30th, 2009 07:25 amAnytime I go anywhere, I keep a sketchbook close at hand. There are several in my car, one in my backpack, a dozen or so in my house (mostly untouched, but ready to go). During the last two weeks I didn't get a lot of drawing done. Most of these were done while waiting for a plane or while riding in one. Bumpy turbulence doesn't help a steady drawing hand, so the latter.
The first was inspired by a guy I saw in the Paris Orly airport before flying to Portugal. I didn't get a good photo, but I was impressed by what I think was the guy's natural burly build. I suspect he was German for some reason. :)
Arachne the villain was a re-draw of a character I did when I was in high school. Originally a hero, I thought she'd make a better villain.
Comet Cub is a rip off of one of my favorite Legion Academy students, Comet Queen. I did adjust his powers. He can fly at high speeds while emitting a freezing comet trail. I was trying to give him a more husky body (not all superheroes can have six-pack abs). Oh well, he's still under development.
