On Netflix: American Fusion
Jul. 14th, 2009 07:41 amI saw the preview for American Fusion on one of the other Netflix movies I'd watched last week. The preview was just very cute and funny, so I threw it into my queue and it arrived last night.
While Yvonne (Sylvia Chang), a 49 year old Chinese divorcee, caters to the selfish demands of her siblings and overbearing elderly mother, she embarks on a relationship with Jose (Esai Morales), a handsome Mexican-American dentist. Eventually she finds herself torn between obligations to her family and finding happiness of her own. The comedy also includes appearances by James Hong, Eddie Shin, Fabio, and the late Pat Morita.
Yvonne's mother is brutally funny. Yvonne is a very cute character and Jose is shirtless twice! The movie is well worth watching and I'm surprised it wasn't out in more theaters as I think it would have drawn a great crowd.
