Sunshine Cleaning -- Late Movie Entry
Mar. 24th, 2009 08:52 pmI went to the local independent theater last Friday after having dinner with the co-workers and caught a showing of Sunshine Cleaning.
When a single mom (Amy Adams) has to find a way to earn more money to send her quirky son to a private school, she starts a cleaning service for crime scenes after discussing the options with her boyfriend. She finds that she's pretty good at the cleaning as well as dealing with the people affected by the death.
The movie is funny as she fumbles her way starting the new business with her ne'er-do-well sister. Alan Arkin plays her business scheming dad and Steve Zahn her married boyfriend (and he's shirtless often). The movie is both touching and quirky. I enjoyed the movie and would see it again, but not sure it's something I'd watch over and over, so buying it is probably out.
