SL8N8 (Slaughter Night)
Nov. 23rd, 2007 09:44 pmWork was nice and quiet today, which was a big plus. I managed to get a lot of odds and ends done that I'd been putting off. I ran a few errands after work, made it home at a decent hour, and grabbed a nap before settling down to watch a Netflix movie.
Tonight was Sl8n8 (Slaughter Night), a Dutch horror movie I found surfing through Netflix. The movie was very well done, almost a throw back to the horror flicks of the late 70's and early 80's. After a car accident kills her father, a young college student goes to a mining area to collect his research information and final book from the site. Along with her gaggle of stupid friends, she decides to take a tour of the mine and the history, which her father had been writing about. A condemned serial killer was sent into the mine to explode methane gas in the late 1800's and his story is the main tale told of the mine. The tour gets trapped in the mine after a power outage. With a little drugs, some alcohol, and a Ouija board, naturally the resurrected killer begins his spree again.
I'm garnering a great appreciation for foreign horror movies and this one was very well done. The subtitles didn't even bug me. Not sure I'll buy it, but it was fun to watch.
