Good-bye Old Couch
Jul. 2nd, 2007 03:56 pmI'm off this week, which makes me so happy I could fart... and for all anyone reading this knows, I have.
I finally broke down and bought a new couch and loveseat. My old one was a sectional and I love it, but having known the claws of past feline pets, its has seen better days. I've spent the morning moving half of the old couch downstairs to my tiny family room, which was a real chore as it has a hideaway bed inside. To make room I've had to move bookshelves and I even cleaned the carpets while I was at it. Lots of sweating and swearing as I've got more scratches and dings on myself from moving heavy furniture solo. It's times like this a burly bear boyfriend would be great, among so many others that if I describe them, I'll have to put this entry behind a cut.
After the downstairs, I had to drag the other (thankfully lighter) half of the section to the curb for trash pickup tomorrow. It is kind of sad really, I've been very attached to this couch, it being my first major piece of furniture bought new after graduating from college, getting a job, and living alone in my first real apartment some 13 years ago. I tend to be overly sentimental about objects like that. The good news is that the new couch is coming tomorrow afternoon and I can't wait. I'll take pictures if the furniture guys are hot :)
The new couch is very warm and comfy. I'm taking applications for snugglers to help me break it in. Any takers?
