Jessica Alba and Chris Evans star in
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
I couldn't pass up watching Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer on Saturday. When several cosmic disturbances start to happen on Earth, Reed Richards is asked to track the events while trying to get ready for his wedding to Susan. The disturbances is found to be the actions of the Silver Surfer who is getting Earth ready to be devoured by Galactus. The movie is much better than the first, following the story of the comic book much better. The Silver Surfer looks great. You get to see some shirtless scenes of the furry chested Chris Evans, which are always welcome. My only real complaint is Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom as I don't think his voice is menacing enough.

Emma Roberts stars as the new Nancy Drew
Sure it's a movie for teenage girls, but there was something about the previews that drew me (no pun intended) to see Nancy Drew. I remember reading the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew as a kid and watched the show back in the 1970's. The movie does a great job. Nancy lives in a small town, known to all as being a super sleuth. She also exists with old fashioned ideas and dress despite having access to her iBook and iPod. When her dad moves her temporarily to California, she begins an investigation into the unsolved death of a movie star when they rent her old mansion. The movie has some great action scenes and really falls into the "it's a very cute movie" category. I could see this becoming a movie or TV series. Emma is a fine actress who I think will definitely do well.
Did I enjoy the movies? Yes to both.
Would I watch them again? I believe so.
Buy the DVD? Maybe.
