Lounging around the bedroom in Shrek the Third
I decided to take in a late showing of Shrek the Third last night. It was a good decision as the kid population was relatively low and even the teenagers were behaved. It's sad when good behavior strikes you as the exception and not the rule.
The film finds Shrek and Fiona living happily in Far Far Away. When the king takes ill, they have fill in for royal duties. When the king dies, Shrek goes off to find young Arthur to take the throne. In the midst of all of this, Fiona finds herself in a family way and Prince Charming stages a coup with the fairy tale villains to take control of Far Far Away. None of these are spoilers, they were in previews. I will say that there is no extra scene at the very end, in case the masses dont' want to wait through the credits.
The movie is very entertaining, but the jokes are a bit stale as they seem to draw on too much material from the first two movies. Much of the really good stuff was in the previews. The animation is excellent as always, and the gathering of fairy tale princesses is wonderful. I personally wanted more Puss 'N Boots, but was satisfied...
Did I Enjoy the Movie? Yes.
Would I watch it again? Probably.
Buy the DVD? Maybe.
