Softball Updates

After a very fun-filled weekend with mikiedoggie, stripedtiger, and beeftenderloin visiting to see cincycub strut his very talented stuff on stage in the Cincinnati Mens Chorus' "She Sang, He Sang" Cabaret Night, I decided to take today off. My boss called around noon to let me know that I may be going to Cleveland for the rest of the week for work, but at least I got to play softball tonight.

This was our double-header night. We played the Universal Grillerz the first game and won 34-0. I got some decent hits in and scored several times. Unfortunately, having such an easy time the first game may have made us a bit overconfident the second when we played the all-female Meissner Insurance team. We hit better than they did, but they fielded far better than us. The short stop was incredible, the third baseman (er, woman) had abs of steel as the ball hit her there several times and she didn't flinch, and we all found out that hitting it to left field was a bad idea as she would dive for anything coming her way. We went into two innings of overtime before one good hit put four more runs on their score, losing to them 9-5. I played almost the whole game, getting some more good hits, but got yanked by our captain when I was having trouble getting the ball to the pitcher from catcher in the last half of the final inning. I don't mind losing to a team that played better and they were damn good.

So far we are 3 wins - 1 loss after tonight. I'm hoping to play next week, but work may knock me out of it again. Fingers crossed it doesn't.
