The Invisible
Apr. 29th, 2007 04:29 pmI went to catch an early showing of The Invisible on Friday. The movie tells the tale of a young popular guy who is erroneously blamed for getting a school ne'er-do-well arrested for stealing. The young guy is beaten by a gang who believes they've killed him. After hiding the body, they leave. The next day, the young man returns to school only to find that no one can see or hear him. Realizing that he's not moving on because he must be still alive, he spends the movie trying to convince the only person who can hear him to help the police find his body.
While the plot was pretty good, Justin Chatwin, the lead actor, seems to only have the talent to look pouty and sullen. Nothing else he does is remarkable. Strangely, the guy who plays his best friend, Chris Marquette, is a far better actor, but I guess he doesn't have "the look." I felt the story was a bit slow, spending too much time on some nonspoken collages with current hip music to fill time.
I'd say save your money or go to see Hot Fuzz again. I just got back from my second viewing and you see more and understand the jokes better the second time around.
Did I enjoy the movie? Eh, it was okay in some places, but I was checking my watch a few times.
Would I watch it again? Ummm.. no...
Buy the DVD? No thanks.
