First, big birthday hugs to
susobear! I hope that it was a great one, sweet guy!

Dominic Purcell runs from a "killer" in Primeval
With fewer teenagers to ruin the experience for me, I ran to the movies today to catch a matinee of Primeval.
The movie centers around a news team who heads to Africa to track down a killer called Gustave. The previews of the movie call Gustave the most prolific serial killer in history. The promos are a bit misleading and while I don't usually give away any spoilers, I feel this one is justified to spare anyone the disappointment if they feel they're going in to see the next Silence of the Lambs or Saw copycat. There is no serial killer, the killer in question is giant crocodile the natives have called "Gustave." I knew this going in so I wasn't surprised.
I wasn't disappointed in the movie though. There are two distinct stories going on actually, the hunt for the killer croc and the war going on between different factions in South Africa. When the news crew documents something they weren't supposed to see, they have to deal not only with surviving the crocodile, but the native conflicts.
The movie does a good job, I think. I felt that the movie was well written and presented, the acting was fairly decent, and the special effects were impressive. I jumped twice during the movie, which usually doesn't happen. Orlando Jones is good comic relief and Dominic Purcell is always good eye candy (IMHO). The misleading promos were probably a bad idea though.
Did I enjoy the movie? Yes.
Would I watch it again? I think so.
Buy the DVD? Maybe, if it were on sale.
