Around lunchtime, Brian (
cincycub) and I made our way to the Esquire Theatre to see Shortbus. The rumors are no joke, its not rated for a reason. It is very sexually graphic with actual sex acts being shown between men and women.. and men and men. The movie is very good though, interesting intertwining storylines, each character having his or her own relationship problems stemming from sexual issues. There are some serious moments along with some comedic episodes.
After the movie, Brian went to get ready for the CMC retreat and I decided to make it to Wilder to see The Return. Sarah Michelle Gellar is becoming quite a scream queen. The story of a tanker service representative who ends up in a small Texas town where a murder occurred years before. She finds herself seeing another face in the mirror and dreams of events she couldn't have been involved in. The previews make it seem like more of a supernatural thriller than it actually is. It is a good film, but I think it could have been a bit tighter.
Not sure what is up with the Greater Cincinnati area today, but there are car accidents EVERYWHERE on the highways. I'm grateful to be home.
Did I enjoy the movie? (Shortbus & The Return) Yes to both.
Would I see it again? (Shortbus & The Return) Maybe to both.
Buy the DVD? (Shortbus & The Return) Nah, neither seem like movies I'd watch over and over.
