Underworld and the Day Off
Jan. 20th, 2006 04:46 pmIt was a short week, but a rough week at work, juggling my work and "other duties as assigned." I got my car tag renewal notice in the mail yesterday. I could mail it in, but it's due on the 31st and I rarely trust they'd have the tags back to me in time, so with looming errands and not my best week at the office, I took the day off.
After paying for my tags in downtown Covington, I decided to swing over to Newport on the Levee for lunch and a movie.
Underworld: Evolution was the big release this weekend. I know there were some mixed feelings from the peanut gallery about the first Underworld, but I thought the movie was very entertaining. The sequel was pretty good in my opinion too. I enjoyed it. The film starts off with some background, but jumps into the action almost right away. There is lots of gore, lots of action, and lots of neat special effects, I thought. Kate Beckinsale looks good in her trademark tight leather (or whatever that shiny material is). Scott Speedman looks like he's been working out too, nice muscles.. :)
Tony Curren and Bill Nighy play the villians. Tony's got a nice furry chest too, but the crystal blue eyes make him look disturbing. Bill Nighy always gives me the creeps, he just can look so evil. Sir Derek Jacobi is also in the firm, but no spoilers about him. I have always thought he was a great actor (I saw him in a production of "Hamlet" on PBS when I was in high school and fell for him). He makes for nice bearded bear.
After the flick, I went to Barnes & Noble and bought a couple of bargain books, one on serial killers (I like true crime) and a book on Hercules movie posters (eye candy). Book stores are my weakness...
