Last night was a real treat (insert sarcasm). Because I have been working late this week, I hadn't had a chance to get the oil changed in my car. So last night, after realizing I had gone 600 miles over the recommended 3,000 miles, I decided to stop and get it changed. Wal-Mart was there, it's relatively inexpensive, and I needed groceries. I dropped off my keys and saw the young, pretty lady who would be changing my oil. Sexist as it may sound, I have never seen a woman working at an oil change place. I was impressed and she was incredibly nice.

So after getting some groceries in the shopping cart, I was getting increasingly annoyed by the holiday shoppers mixed in with the "OMG! We have snow coming! Horde milk, bread, and toilet paper!" people. They act like they're afraid they'll have to see which of their children they'll have to eat if they don't load up. If the Bradys had acted like this, I'm pretty sure Jan would be gone. All the bad stuff happened to Jan.

I kept checking on my car and checking and checking, and having to put the ice cream back because it was melting.... and checking. It seems the oil change/automotive department was running behind due to the volume of people needing oil changes.

Finally, after paying for my groceries, I wheeled them to the back and found my car was done and a line of 15 people wanting service there. Apparently some rich bitch was giving the teenage cashier there hell for her long wait. Like the rest of us hadn't waited there too! So finally, the young lady who changed my oil came in and got the customers who were there for pick up and handed out our keys. She apologized to me for not changing the bulb in a back light, which I thought was nice of her. It took two hours, but I got the oil change and happily went home.

And as for being a nerd...

I am nerdier than 59% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

I thought I would score higher.

I just got a call from [livejournal.com profile] mikiedoggie. He's about 45 minutes north of Indianapolis. He left about 1 PM today, so he's been on the road for quite a while. I told him about the weather here and he may stay in Indianapolis tonight.

The drive home was typical Cincinnati snow driving... accidents anywhere and very slow driving. My 20 mile drive home from work took 2 1/2 hours. There were some scary moments, the hill on my way to my neighborhood is pretty steep and I was heading up the hill. I'm spiritual, but not terribly religious, but I was thanking God for getting me up that hill.

So I'm now in my sweats and enjoying the warmth. I heard this weird vacuuming noise outside my house. I opened the door to find my neighbor using his snowblower to clear my driveway. He was doing it because he wanted to make sure I could get to work tomorrow. And he continued to do it even after I told him I was on leave Friday. A great guy :)
