Tuesday Night at the Movies -- Jarhead
Nov. 23rd, 2005 10:25 amBack here at the library again. Luckily, my admirer is no where to be sighted and I can cruise the internet without being distracted by his Madonna-induced chair dancing.
With the siblings working late again, I called up my buddies Stewart and David from Middlesboro and we hit the movies last night. I had avoided Jarhead because I have to be in a mood for a serious, heavy sort of movie. After reading a few decent reviews on it though, and the fact that Stewart, David and I had already seen most of the movies Corbin had to offer, I thought it was a decent choice.

Jake Gyllenhaal as Santa Claus
I liked this movie. Despite the serious setting of the Persian Gulf War, there was a lot of humor and some great cinematography to it. There was also Peter Sarsgaard, who seems to be popping up in a lot of movies of late. I'd expect big things from him in the future. Jake Gyllenhaal really makes this movie, his facial expressions and actions are very creepy in some tense parts (and you get to see his butt many times). I look forward to buying this one.
After the movie, we hit a local bar and grill (in my formerly dry hometown, it's still bizarre). Stewart's Scots accent still garners attention from the locals. I don't blame them, I like to hear Stewart's accent too. After we ate way too much, we were on our way out when the waitress asked us to jump off her car. She'd left the interior lights on during her nine hour shift! Luckily, I had the jumper cables and burly bear David knew how to hook them up. I always have to read the directions on the bag. So the waitress was on her merry way and so were the guys after our good deed for the night.
I have pictures, but they'll have to wait until I get back to my wonderful high speed, WIFI networked home.
