Over the Hump of the Slump
May. 4th, 2005 05:56 pmIt seems that things have improved over the last day or so. The funk is lifting as I approach the weekend I think. I had a long chat with
scifibear99 last night, which always puts me in a better mood. I went to bed and dragged my sorry butt to work this morning.
Dreading the start of the inspection, I just decided to stay in. My office morale committee (of which I am a member) was putting on a Cinco de Mayo luncheon one day early as many folks will not be in the office tomorrow. I spent two hours cooking taco salad meat last night for it and I didn't want to miss it, so I didn't. I told my boss I'd start my inspection tomorrow and he said okay. So I spent the day helping set up and clean up the luncheon. I ate well and fell off the low carb wagon (multiple pieces of cake). I also shattered the pinata in one swing and was showered in candy.
I took off an hour early and stopped off at Barnes & Noble to pick up a copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and ended up buying Ellen Degeneres -- The Beginning on DVD. I then went to the gym, did 45 minutes on the treadmill and lifted weights for upper body. I then stopped by KMart and bought Gilmore Girls Season 3 and Will & Grace Season 1 on DVD. Shopping therapy is good.
I have decided to forgo the weekend at Mom's. I'll send her a gift. Her birthday is two weeks later and I'd rather be home for that instead. It lacks the horrid fire and brimstone sermon I know she'll be sitting through this weekend.
