Court TV and Michael Jackson
Feb. 1st, 2005 07:24 amI went home early yesterday, just wasn't getting anything done at the office, so I decided to burn some comp time. I'd left the TV on Court TV and they were talking all about the jury selection and hoopla surrounding the Michael Jackson trial. It's disturbing really.
I think what bothered me so much were the supporters outside the courthouse. There was one woman who proclaimed that she was a kindergarten teacher who had given up her job and moved three hours to be there to support Michael. Ummmm... okay, if you're that kind of person, I wouldn't want you teaching kindergarten kids anyway.
What is it about this person that illicits such insane devotion? I have my favorite actors and musicians, sure, but I'll be damned if I'd give up my livelihood to just stand outside and chant for them. It is sad that so many follow so blindly, not considering the possibility that he actually may have done the things of which he's been accused.
... or worse, it's sad that I actually watched even three minutes of this circus. So much more of it to come, I'm sure.
