I drove down yesterday morning in the dreary rain for my 10 year college homecoming and met up with Greg, my best friend from college, and his family. I miss hanging out with Greg, as we lived next door to each other for three years when we were together at Berea College. He's doing well, the family physician in his wife's hometown.

Afterwards, I was walking towards the science building when I thought I saw [livejournal.com profile] shawnbc01. I hollered for him, but he didn't turn around, so I thought I may have been mistaken. Too worried about my presentation to pursue, so I went on the campus.

At 4 PM, my friend Lee Ann and I started presentations to the current chemistry majors. Lee Ann actually lives just a few miles from my house, the things you learn. It'll be nice to catch up with her now that we know where each of us are. My presentation was okay, not my best. The problem is that I never realized how boring my job sometimes sounds when I describe it in detail to someone. It's hard to convey how cool seeing the manufacturing machinery or goofy lab equipment can be with just words. Unfortunately, confidentiality prevents me from bringing in pictures. Sigh.. oh well.

My former professor game me a framed photo of the Draper Chapel, one of the main buildings on campus, as a gift for coming. It's very nice, he took it himself, and I can't wait to hang it up at home. I'm up early so I can get dressed and head to campus again. Tomorrow I'll be sleeping in VERY late.

Racing around this morning, I scampered to get dressed, see Mom, eat something, and drive back up to Berea for the class photo. I have no idea why this latter part was important to me, but I'm feeling nostalgic. My buddy Dustin and his family were here, so awesome to see them again, as they live in WV now. Dusty doesn't know I swing the other way and I'm tempted to tell him, but then I figure, let him figure it out. He's not asked me about my dating life yet, but if he does he'll find out. I'll not lie or hide.

I'm running into friends from other classes who remember me, but strangely few from my class and this is our homecoming. Very odd, but fun nontheless. It's been a trip down memory lane visiting some of the buildings that have been renovated since I left here. I still see the old arrangement despite the newly finished construction. I can hear Barbra singing "The Way We Were" in my head and I hate it. Okay, I'm obviously a little tired.

My day isn't done, my friends have scattered off to let the kids nap at their respective hotels. It's a pain being the single, childless guy here sometimes. I'm off to Richmond to meet the twin and the sis for dinner and then I'll swing back down to meet up with the crew again. Man, I miss college sometimes.
