My cab will be picking me up in about an hour to take me to the airport. I'm off to North Carolina for two weeks for a training course. I've heard the class is good, so I'm looking forward to that, but I dread the being away from home again, especially so soon after getting home. I managed to pack lighter this round, only one suitcase, but it's stuffed.

Yesterday was fun. Before dinner, I met up with my buddy Bill who is moving back to Detroit. I'm going to miss having him around, but he'll be happier there with his partner. We had lunch at Johnny Rocket's and then played games at Gameworks at the Levee. I did the dance step machine that is all the rage with the teenagers. Even awkward me managed to hit a few steps, but I can't imagine how the others do it.

Afterwards, we stopped by Barnes & Noble, where I got the Challenge of the Superfriends and Fantastic Planet on DVD. Love both of them, now if I only had time to watch them. I said farewell to Bill and wished him well. Now I have an excuse to go to Detroit I guess.

As I was packing last night, I got a call from [livejournal.com profile] bleuvalentines, who is moving to Germany. Ah the life of a government employee wife! Hopefully, I'll get to catch up with her in person before she leaves the country.

Well, I need to get those last minute things and hit the road.

My flight out to Raleigh, NC was pretty uneventful. A small plane and I sat next to a high school girl who was on her way to church camp. If I could identify my personal circle of hell, church camp would be near the top of my choices. I drew most of the flight and the church girl kept stealing glances of what I was drawing. I know this because she read the same page of her book for about 15 minutes. Not that I mind.

The flight attendant was a man. He’s about early 40’s, 5’11”, about 220 lbs, graying hair and thick, full goatee, blue eyes, some fur over the collar, etc. Ryan was very handsome. I enjoyed watching him most of the flight. I regret leaving my camera at home this time. I may have to get a disposable.

I got to the hotel and decided to hit the grocery store (my room is a suite with a kitchen). One of my coworkers from DC rode along with the hotel shuttle. He’s a shorter, broad shouldered, red-headed, bearded bear with graying chest hair and a humble disposition. Steve reminds me of a school kid who is awkwardly trying to fit in. He’s a nice guy. I like him. He seems very honest. Since he works in DC, he knows no one at this training class full of field agents, so I imagine he’ll cling to me somewhat, but that’s okay.

Well, class tomorrow. The shirts and pants are ironed and ready and my computer is working thankfully. Two weeks.. ugh! At least I’ve heard this class is pretty good.
