Long Substitute Monday
Jun. 1st, 2004 07:30 pmThe day after a long weekend is worse than a typical Monday. I'm working up north of Cincinnati this week, the drive isn't bad as long as the traffic isn't a problem.
The bright spot of the day was running into a friendly daddy bear I had met at a River Bears cookout at Arby's while at lunch. He didn't remember me right off, but after I mentioned his partner's name, who I also met at the cookout, he lit up a bit. We ate lunch together and caught up a little, which was good. One of the drags of working off-site is that I often eat lunch alone. It was nice to have company for a change.
The drive to the office was a nightmare. It took an hour to drive 26 miles thanks to a highway wreck near my office. After putting a few things away, I left only to take another hour to drive the 20 miles home, due to post-holiday traffic, I assume. Damn, it's been a long day.
