Manic Tuesdays
Apr. 27th, 2004 08:16 pmWhat a day. I managed to get a lot of work done today, despite two meetings that ate up the majority of the morning.
I do some computer support for some software applications at work. It's not my main job by far and I'm incredibly thankful for that. It falls under my "other duties as assigned" function on my job description. I sometimes cringe when the phone rings as I never know what awaits me on the other end of the line.
Today was no different. A co-worker, who may as well use his laptop as a paperweight, "lost" his report. He claims he was nearly finished. When I took a quick spin through his hard drive, I realized he saved the report using "Save As.." which he isn't supposed to do as the software can no longer find it with a new name. He had done this several times as he had several versions, none of which was the correct copy. It kills me when they blame the software, especially when they don't use it correctly.
I left him to retype the report as I couldn't find the supposed finished copy. Actually, it was more like I didn't want to spend precious hours locating it on his all confusing hard drive folders, under heaven knows what name. Retyping his report is just punishment, in my opinion.
