Trading Spaces and Butting Heads
Mar. 20th, 2004 09:28 pmI'm watching the new episode of Trading Spaces and I'm loving it. The two designers are Kia and Hildi. Kia's ideas are at least colorful with a theme, Hildi is a disaster waiting to happen almost always.
The fun part is that Kia is wanting to paint the room in shades of "orange" and put in a circular, rotating foam bed. The problem is that the lady she's working with is a passionate, opinionated Latina. I love her!!! She's told Kia that the color is wrong, the bed is a bad idea (the hubby in that house has back problems), and that her choices of fabric were "interesting." I would want this woman fighting for me if they were doing my house. She's even sabotaged the wall art to stop Kia from putting something weird up! Poor Kia! *evil grin*
This is the designer's "art" versus the functionality of the room, which I have always had problems with. The designer wants the room to have a certain look, whether anyone can actually use the room or not. It obviously is the hook of the show, to see how good or bad they can do a room. I'm curious to see how this is going to turn out.
