Mondays are so hard to wake up for. I got to work at a good time only to find my boss had called in sick, naming me his actor for the day. Hooray for me, until I see the backlog of work he's left. We installed a new version of our database software over the weekend. Since no one in my office can follow directions, I've been bombarded with calls, saying "I click this link and nothing works right." Translation, you've hit "Save" instead of "Open," like the directions told you NOT to do. Grrrrr!

And to top it off, our new supervisor is burning the incense way too much at home. She can't burn it here so it's just her carrying the scents, but you can smell her office from down the hall. It's WAY TOO STRONG!!!! It's burning my nostrils, you ditz!

According to genetics, I get 50% of my genes from my mom and 50% from my dad. Often when I see someone's child, I often look for the physical attributes that are similar to his or her dad or mom. While working out at the gym, mind wandering while my legs went round on the elliptical trainer, I thought about what I got from either parent, good and bad:

From dear old Mom, I got:

Her coloring -- dark hair, eyes, and skin tone
Her love of learning
Her artistic ability -- I draw and sketch, she paints
Her love of reading
Her love of old classic movies
Her love of witty humor
Her love of different types of music
Her family's occasional bursts of temper (I keep it in check)
Her reading into things that aren't there (I keep that in check too)
Her ability to worry

From dear old Dad, I got:

His round shape -- Dad was heavy set, but I'm not as big as he was
His round Irish face and nose
His silver hair -- my dark hair has some shiny silver strands in it here and there.
His love of television
His love of travel
His love of country humor
His joking nature
His low tolerance for screaming children

My siblings all got similiar and different traits from the parents. It's strange how a two person gene pool can generate such variations. I always did like genetics in college.
