Had a decent evening. Didn't get home until late due to the weather and spent most of the night wrapping Christmas presents. As much fun as they are to unwrap, the wrapping part isn't as exciting.

I got a call from my sister. Apparently, that b*tch she worked for has decided to "leave her job" after getting my sister and a couple of her co-workers fired. My thought is that the owners of the company may have finally come to their senses regarding the b*tch boss' stealing and gave her the "you can quit or be fired" edict. I predict that the owners may call my sister and offer her her old job back now. My opinion is that she shouldn't take it. Who would want to work for those obvious idiots anyway?

Not much else going on. Leaving for home this weekend for the holidays and I still have presents to wrap up before I leave. I could have used another few hours of sleep, but I can do this this coming week. Oh well, back to work....

As part of our benefits, we have the option to donate our vacation time to someone who is sick or has a loved one in the hospital. This person has to be on an approved list for donation and they have to have no leave of their own, vacation or sick.

One of my co-workers in the lab recently had her husband go into the hospital due to a complication with his diabetes. I donated a few days of leave to her so she could spend time with her hubby while he recovers. Her hubby is a nice guy and a big cuddly teddy bear sort. However, I had wondered why she had no leave of her own as she had been in the agency longer than I have and people generally have a storehouse of sick leave built up. One of my co-workers told me that she often comes in late or leaves early, because she doesn't feel like being there, and that she often will take off an entire sick day because she had a headache.

Now I'm a little irked. Although, what happened to her husband is awful and I'm glad I donated leave to her to help him, I'm feeling a bit used in that she's sqandered all of her leave for trivial things and "illnesses" and is now using mine. Should I feel bad about this or angry?

My brother and sister both requested I do a beer run for them before I came home for the weekend. For those who are unaware of the odd nature of Kentucky, the lower half of the state is made up of "dry" counties, counties where you cannot buy alcohol.

Growing up in a dry county is rough. Making alcohol unavailable instantly makes it taboo and the teenagers go in droves to the bootleggers to get beer or whiskey. And, of course, Kentucky is well known for its natives making their own special brew.

Naturally, my siblings ask me to bring them beer so they don't have to drive the hour themselves to buy it. I snagged a four-pack of Murphy's Irish Stout while I was there. I don't see it very often and I don't mind an occasional beer at home, although I typically don't drink much. I guess we'll all be downing a few over the holidays. ;)
