Oh, it's a been a long day, but a good day really. Today is the start of my one week vacation from the office. It's crunch time and I feel a tad guilty about not being there to help out, but I've needed this break for some time.

I'm in my hometown, visiting my family and friends. My best buddy is in from Arizona for the week. It's good to see him. There's something about chatting in person that gets missed on the phone. He's a great, funny guy and he's single for any of the ladies who may be reading this. (Oh he'll kill me for that last remark, but what are best friends for)

Went to see "Underworld" tonight. Great movie, excellent special effects, and the storyline is actually interesting. I highly recommend this one. It's not even as scary as one might think. I always love a good vampire flick.

Got to my brother's house late. He's zonked out on the couch. I did receive my fourth Leonard & Larry paperback, "How Real Men Do It" in the mail. I had it sent to my brother's house because I knew it would show up while I'm out of town. For those who don't know, Leonard & Larry are a gay bear cartoon couple by Tim Barela. It ran in the Advocate and other magazines until recently. This will be the last book probably as Tim hasn't found another publisher to keep it going yet. I hated to hear that, because the stories are just too funny. Larry is a sometimes neurotic leather shop owner with two sons from a previous straight marriage. His partner Leonard is a Jewish fashion photographer. They have a core group of strange friends and family that float in and out of their lives, making the usual comic situations.

I found the cartoon on the net a couple of years ago and collected the first three books. The fourth was just released and is available at www.dreamhavenbooks.com for those interested parties.

Well, I'm going to curl up with the 'toons for a bit and then hit the hay. Sleeping in is going to feel soooo good!

Had a good day here in green ol'Kentucky. Started late today, sleeping in was a main priority. Went to lunch with my buddy, did some shopping, chatted with my mom and sis, went fourwheeling with my brother-in-law, and just goofing off sort of things. Typical things really.

After seeing the scenery in Europe, it suddenly dawned on me how much I take the routine scenery around me for granted. My brother-in-law took me fourwheeling earlier this evening. I hadn't done that in a long time. When we reached the top of the largest hill where his dad's property is, we hit this plateau where his brother is building a house and I was blown away. You could see the whole valley (called a "holler" in my parts. Holler = hollow). It was breathtaking. I really wished I had taken my camera with me.

After that, I decided to make that my goal this week. To treat my small country town as though I was a tourist who had never seen it before. I'm going to hit the local sights, take photos, and see the area like some many locals never do. I'm guessing I'll start tomorrow. After a nice long sleep....
