Yesterday went pretty well, got an amazing amount of work done and still took off early. A co-worker, Miss Republican, and I decided to go to the Pub, an Irish pub, for a beer and lunch. We both took the rest of the day off.

Now that the election is done, she and I get along much better, provided we don't discuss politics. During lunch, she and I talked about our dating lives and what not. When reminiscing about college, she came to tell me about her college roommate who ended up coming out to her as a lesbian. She'd known the girl since grade school and she said it made no difference to her. Maybe it was the beer or just a bit of realization that she's more liberal than she lets on, but I told her my orientation as well. And strangely, she wasn't that surprised. She said she never really gave it any thought because it doesn't matter to her. Wow, she's smarter than I thought originally. She even bought me lunch. Very impressed.

I drove to Corbin from there, three hours on the road. My iPod certainly makes that journey more fun. Later, I went to see Mom and she showed me the quilt she had been making from my tee-shirts. I was bowled over. It was so strange to see the last 10 years of my life incorporated onto a quilt. It's amazing and I couldn't help staring at it. I almost cried and hugged my mom, she's the best. It's sadly not finished yet, but I'll post pics when Mom gets it done.

Well, I'm off to see what mischief I can get into today.

I'm glad you're liking the way the quilt is shaping up. That's cool of your mom to make you such a nice keepsake!

I'm way impressed with your conversation with Miss Republican! I personally feel that most people really don't care about it unless they are in groups and thus influenced with group think. It's too bad you two can't discuss politics because some of the best conversations I've ever had were about it and we didn't have to agree...

On the quilt. Oh man, I can't wait!

Wow, when I was lurking in your journal the first time, I had read that your Mom was going to do this. That is soo cool. I'm glad you have a wonderful Mom - as I have as well. I feel sorry for all those who have issues with their parents, but most especially their Mothers.

I've said this before in my journal, but my Mom just rocks in many ways and I'm thankful to have her in my life still.

Glad that "Miss Republican" and you had a good conversation and her reaction to your orientation was rather nun plussed. I'd wish more people would be that way. Eventually I'm sure.

Anyhow, becareful of the mischief to fall into today. LOL. Don't wanna hear you got into trouble now. ;-)

So you're off in the wilds of Corbin now? Is the Root Beer Stand open yet? *drool*

What a great gift from your mom! She really is something special. It's those gifts from the heart that mean the most!

Oh we have some great conversations that end in complete and utter frustration as neither of us is willing to admit certain things about the current regime.. er, presidency.

And as for the quilt, I can't wait either :)

When my nephews graduated from high school, my sister made a t-shirt quilt for them using all their high school t-shirts. It was way cool.

I tried to find my high school shirts, but can't, so these are from college forward.

BTW, I like the new pic :)

Thanks. The pic is from our trip to Key West about a year and a half ago. We went on a gay sunset cruise.

I guess you don't want to hear about the first mate who after about 30 minutes into the cruise removed all his clothes and worked naked. Granted, he was a skinny twink, but a naked man is a naked man!

Sigh.. any port in a storm I guess, but if the captain was what I imagine all boat captains to look like, I'd have tried to encourage him to join the first mate in sunning his buns!
