I just got a phone call from Mom. I ordered her a quilt pattern that you can use to make a quilt from your old tee-shirts. She wants to make one for me (YAY!!!). I need twenty tees to make the quilt. I have many old tees, but she's telling me that I should use some of the recent tees I've picked up on my trips. She says this way they'll keep better.

She makes a good point, but I hate to sacrifice such new shirts. Still, I'll have them, just not as shirts anymore. The logos will grace my bed instead. Should I sacrifice them knowing that they'll wear out eventually??? Not an important decision, just wanting some feedback from the peanut gallery.

I say sacrifice them. They would be much cooler as a quilt.

Plus that just gives you more incentive to travel more to get them back. ;)

I'd sacrifice them for a quilt. That's an awesome idea.

Sure, sacrifice 'em. I have one of those quilts with a bunch of tees from high school. I love it :)

Maybe some of them, but not all of them. I'd suggest a mixture of older t-shirts that are nearing their end of the life cycle with some of the newer ones - but you're right, not need to "ruin" all your current ones.

Oh, so now we're *peanuts*, are we? ;)

PS: I'd hate to sacrifice the shirts too, but that sounds pretty cool and a good trade off... I'd go for it.

Do it. A t-shirt is a t-shirt, the quilt will be one of a kind. Or maybe you can give her 2 or 3 shirts and she can make a couple of pillows.

Hey Mark. I'm new to LJ. I hope you don't mind me commenting. The quilt sounds like a cool idea. Plus the quilt is something you can enjoy everyday.

Do you think your mom will be offended by the shirts that say "I got laid at Bear Camp 2002." and "It's 8am. Feed me your sausage."? ;-)

There are those (and I know SO many of them) who would say that T-shirts don't belong on your chest... that they SHOULD be on the bed, one way or another! Heh heh. I think this ties in with the daddybear story from work, too... ;-)

A QUILT?
What is ya, queer or sumpthin'?

Dunno ... the older shirts have more memories attached, no? I believe this is that the quilt is about.
