Wondertwin Powers... Activate!

What can I say? I’m 32 today… and I didn’t turn it alone!

I’ve made several references in my posts regarding the "twin." I put together this quickie collage to satisfy those who have often wondered what he looks like, as you can see we’re not identical. Joe (the twin) and I do not have rhyming names, we do not dress alike (anymore) and we’re happily as opposite as night and day. We always have been, despite numerous attempts by parent and relatives to dress and influence us otherwise. Joe and I were born on this day, within three minutes of each other (I often refer to him as my former "wombmate"), and people have always expected us to be the same.

Strangely enough, Mom wasn't sure she was having twins with us. Because of the orientation of our positions in the womb, the doctor couldn't give her and Dad a sure evaluation. It was 1973, technology wasn't what it is today. According to Mom, the nurses were literally taking monetary bets on whether there were two of us or not in the delivery room. She says when Joe appeared after me, there was alot of screams because some of the nurses just made some money (and some just lost). We were also the young doctor's first set of twins he'd every delivered. He is still Mom's doctor today and reminds her of that.

When growing up, we fought more than got along, mostly because we had little in common other than family. We do much better as adults. I’ve gone through the differences for those interested parties.

On Stats
Joe is 5’10”, about 175 lbs, reddish-brown hair, light brown eyes, slim build
I am 5’8”, about 208 lbs, black hair, dark brown eyes, stocky build

On Inherited Looks
Joe is built like mom’s side, but looks like dad’s side.
I am built like dad’s side, but look like mom’s side.
We both have mom’s brown eyes though.

On Orientation
I am gleefully gay. Joe is terminally straight.

On Dating
Joe likes slim blonde petite women.
I like burly, hairy, stocky men.

On High School
Joe was the popular jock.
I was the unknown bookworm.

On Humor
Joe likes blue humor, i.e. the comic stylings of Martin Lawrence.
I like witty humor, i.e. the fabulous stylings of Eddie Izzard.
We both enjoy country humor.

On Knowledge
Joe can explain the Infield Fly Rule in Baseball.
I can explain the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle in Quantum Mechanics.

On Sports
Joe can play anything, loves golf.
I play lousy and proud in most sports and I despise golf.

On Vocabulary
Joe had to explain to me the meaning of "bogey," "eagle," and "birdie."
I’ve had to explain words like "uncouth" and "aloof."

On the Channel Most Likely to be Turned to on TV
Joe – the Golf Channel
Me – Cartoon Network

On Movies
Joe likes action flicks and any drama involving sports, like The Legend of Bagger Vance and Rudy.
I love comedy, older movies, and horror flicks.

On Computers
Joe is a PC guy.
I am a Mac slave.

On Hobbies
Joe plays golf religiously and had a room in his house full of golf-themed items.
I’ve read comic books and drawn since I was six, I have a drafting table in my home office.

On Pets
Joe has four dogs.
I have two cats.

Despite our differences, we do get along and I love him dearly. Even though the goofy shit called me at 12:01 AM to wish me a Happy Birthday, even after I told him not to do it. Big happy birthday to my "little” brother (aka "The Golden Child”).

Update: Revenge is sweet. I called the twin to wish him a happy birthday this morning... at 4:30 AM.

Happy Birthday, Mark!

Hope you´re having a great day!

I hadn´t realized how long it´d been since I´s seen Joe. I think you guys look more alike now than you used to.

Thanks, Heather. I think we're slowly changing, Joe's hair grew darker over the years and he's gotten a bit thicker too, while I've lost some weight.. we look much more alike than we did as kids, with Joe's blond hair and all.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to both of you. I have a fraternal twin, but we look somewhat similar (though in my late teens I looked so much like our next oldest brother I was able to use his Coast Guard ID to get into bars ;-). We were always sharing everything growing up and ended up with pretty much the same interests. Except guys of course, as he is straight. While we did battle quite often, it was more just kid stuff. I'm the younger by about 9 minutes and have always been the chunkier one, especially when we were young (he's catching up as we approach 40). The one advantage was winning at wrestling matches. My Mom didn't know she was having twins (it was 1967) till the event happened. Funny thing was, my high school girlfriend (I didn't come out till I was 32) was born the same day in the same hospital. They thought HER Mom was having twins but were wrong. Her mom remembered hearing about twins being born that same day in the maternity ward. Of course my parents had a boy and a girls name picked out, so he got the boys name and they scrambled for a second boys name when I showed up. It wasn't too hard, as they are catholic and just picked another saint's name. I refuse to believe the stories my older brothers and sisters tell of my grandma baby sitting us and getting us mixed up while changing diapers, as they used colored safety pins to tell us apart in the first few months.

Thanks!

And I think you're very handsome, especially being the "chunkier one."

As for names, Joe and I were named after our grandfathers. He got the first name of one and the middle of the other, and so did I only switched. It solved a lot of problems. :)

For knowing the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle? I had no idea that was info for catching such a cute guy!!! I can also explain Beer's Law and the meaning of Avagadro's Number if that will help!!! :)

Congratulations!
You can't get much more twinish than 3 mins, can you.

Your mother was lucky... An irish woman recently had a cesarean done to give birth to the second of her twins, only to find out that they had místaken HER heartbeat for a second baby!

I had not seen this before ....obviously, whatever your differences, you two have something in common: both extremely attractive !
I really enjoyed your witty list of comparisons, delightfully telling in your choice of words. You express a natural warmth between yourselves....it gave me a smile to see and read.
