The Human Shield Revised

dr_tectonic asked about something a bit more revealing. It makes sense actually. An invulnerable hero probably doesn't need much of a costume. It reminds me of the Laurel Kent characters in the "Legion of Super-Heroes" universe, a 30th century descendant of Superman who inherited his invulnerability. As such, she wore very little in terms of a costume (usually a glorified bikini with no shoes). I prefer this hairy-chested hero instead, but she was pretty cool.
I may go the force-field route power-wise so people don't accuse me of ripping off Laurel Kent. It works either way for me.

Definitely force-field over invulnerability. As a bonus, then he's kind of an inversion of Sue Storm: instead of the Invisible Woman, he's the (very) Visible Man...
Ha, there's a thought: maybe he's Human Shield instead of Mr. Invulnerable because he's good at drawing aggro: he's got a hidden bonus power that focuses people's attention to him, so all the bad guys fire at him and ignore whoever he's shielding. (Does it work better the more skin he's got showing? Naw, that just 'cause he's an exhibitionist. ;)

And the force-field power does seem much more like a practical power. :)

Trust me, no one's going to confuse those two!
If you're taking suggestions, mine would be that his force field is like the Enterprise shields -- something that protects him but which can be extended to others, perhaps by close contact.

It reminds me of Troia, the next identity for Donna Troy, after her Wonder Girl phase. Troia had a "personal force shield" that she could project.

It may depend on the back story, but... I think a character who develops invulnerability has vulnerability issues. That is, I think a person who needs such strong shielding is someone who probably wouldn't be displaying himself in such a revealing manner.
From this photo, my take is this guy is more flame-retardant. ;) Everything he's wearing is fire proof, and he either generates fire, or he can survive the heat in the kitchen...
