Day Two on Low Carb

I haven't gotten any real cravings as yet. I guess the frustrating part is just figuring out what to eat. The food itself is pretty good, but to stare at the menu and count carbs in your head can be annoying. Figuring out three meals with only a 30 carb limit is rough.

Breakfast was a bacon sandwich on low carb bread, lunch was a grilled chicken caesar salad (yum!), and dinner was two cube steaks with cheese, low carb Cool Ranch Doritos, and two dill pickle spears. All and all, everything was really tasty. I think I can handle this.

I'm a little tired, been a rough day and I'm a bit brain fried from work. Heading to bed early, I think.

which low carb diet are you on?

sorry I dont get to read LJ much so please forgive me if I am asking a question you probabaly already have answered in a LJ at some point. The reason I ask is that my doctor just advised me that he wants me to try a low carb diet. he said he didnt really care which one, Atkins or South Beach. I am currently reading the South Beach one. It actually sounds do able. I am nercous as crap though... Nice to read that its not to hard to do.. Glad it seems to be working for you

I have been reading a book called "Protein Power" by Dr. Michael Eades and following that plan. It's basically the same as the Adkins diet, as I think all the low carb ones are. It's the plan my boss is following and he's lost over 50 lbs on it.

I was nervous too, and I still am. Just taking it one day at a time. Good luck on yours!

No problem. I will tell you that I carbo loaded the weekend before starting this -- fries, beer, milkshakes, chicken wings, etc. May as well end it with a bang, so I think your idea of waiting until the holiday is over is a good one.

Pfffffff... hard to do that here in spain.. we use normal french bread for almost everything... and our breakfasts are mostly coffee & milk and cookies... I'm trying to get less carbs myself... and what i found puzzling was that carb counting... how can you count carbs?

(Yes... all this comes into my mind because I'm not a slender guy precisely )

Hugs from the overcarbed spain LOL :)

Hey there handsome. Welcome to LJ!

As for breads, I love them, which is probably why I tip the scales at 235 lbs at 5'8". It's one of the reasons for the diet. This site has some good information about carbohydrate content on typical foods.

Hugs from Northern Kentucky! ;)

Wooooaa.... thanks for the link, cutie! :) And I don't think you're tipping the scales LOL :) But you must dowhat you must do! :) Anyway I'm going to check the link you gave me and try to enhance my diet... for me the worst meal in those diets is the breakfast.. as I have a terrible urge to eat sweet things as soon as I wake up, bread cookies, muffins.... thanks god for the gym... it at least makes me to feel les guilty! :) but If you're tipping the scale, what am I doing at 5'11 and 250? LOL :) Too big for an eurotrash like me!

Anyway... off to shower here...
Lots of thanks for the link... I'm gonna use that! Let's see what happens and I send you lots of strength for you to follow your diet!

HUGS from rainy madrid!

Hey there! At 5'11" and 250 lbs, you sound pretty good to me too!

I can relate to the wanting sweets for breakfast. I used to grab a bagel or a yummy glazed, blueberry cake donut for breakfast... no more :(

I think one thing that most people don't realize is that you are not stuck on this very restricted low carb phase forever. Once you get to the weight you want, you can increase carbs to maintain it, meaning I'll eventually have another of those delicious donuts someday, just not every morning.

Good luck, handsome, let me know how it goes. Hugs!!

Oh well.. I've read the site you mentioned.. and yes.. i've seen the 4 phase thing!! :) well.. otherwise that would have been the breakfast hell and not a diet LOL... let's see what happens if I mix this diet with working out.. It's a shame that here we don't have so many lowcarb things... and, yet.. I have to keep the carbs balanced.. otherwise ( it's happened to me already ) I go to the gym and I felt like almost falling on the floor, as I felt so weak...
So I am trying now to keep some balance... I have to look better for holidays LOL

[identity profile] sluggobearcub.livejournal.com 2004-05-30 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
250 5' 11" sounds pretty good to me . Why are you trying to lose... That doesnt sound big at all especially if you work out

[identity profile] susobear.livejournal.com 2004-05-30 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Uhm.... maybe it's not big by american standards... but I'm in the range of big chubbybears here in Europe. The problem is that i want to keep my weight under control, as I'm going really soon to the US, and I know what happened last year.... i gained like 20 pounds!!! And I didn't eat more than here!! but well.. anyway i gained that, now that I have that experience, I will go prepared this time! :) Anyway.. I'm not worried about gaining weigh.. as a matter of fact I'd like to gain weigh... but very well distributed across my body ( thus, the gym ;) )

I hope this works out for you. Hopefully you'll form new habits and they will become second nature.

Don't lose all of your belly!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2004-05-26 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks handsome, I'll try to keep a little tummy available for rubbing :)

[identity profile] clauditorium.livejournal.com 2004-05-26 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I like it when luscious studs call me handsome!

Mmm, tummy-rubbing...

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2004-05-28 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
Being called "luscious stud" does wonders for me too :)

Yeah, I like tummy-rubbing! ;)

Well I speak the truth, Mr. Yummy Bear.

Why must you be 500 miles away...

[identity profile] sluggobearcub.livejournal.com 2004-05-30 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
wow what a cute picture you have there.. can i say I had to add you to my friends list cuz I thought you were hot.. What else can I say... I am trying the low carb thing to although I am doing it now to try to get my blood sugar in line so i do not have to go on insulin shots..

[identity profile] clauditorium.livejournal.com 2004-05-30 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the compliment!

I'm surprised you have blood sugar problems - you're not that big. But do what you gotta do. As I've recently lamented in my journal, it's unfair and a real shame that it's not healthy to be big.

[identity profile] sluggobearcub.livejournal.com 2004-05-30 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
well 225 and 5'7" I have about 40 pounds to lose. I thnk I will actually be fine with losing 20.. The diabetes runs in the family so I really wasnt shocked when I found out, the only thing that really bugs me about it is that I am exhausted most of the time. The high sugar makes me tired... of course working two stresfull jobs just to make a living to the tune of 60 hours a week doesnt help Thanks for the hello
