Lawsuits and B. O.

I was just watching the news and apparently a local family is suing their child's school district for $50,000. Why? Because a teacher told their child to spray himself with Lysol because he had bad body odor. The child suffered taunting from the other kids and obviously vast psychological damage.

The teacher has since retired and is obviously not the most tactful person on the planet, as he or she did this publicly and embarrassed the kid. However, I don't think the family deserves $50,000 because they have a embarrassed stinky kid. If anything, the family should take this as a sign that Junior needs some deodorant and a bath.

Naturally, if the student has some condition that causes this, that's a bit different, but since the news didn't mention it, I'm assuming he doesn't.

Not to mention now he'll be the "Stinky kid whose parents sued the school district"

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
True, he'll only be exchanging one name for another. And I'm sure the parents will be spending the awarded money, if they actually get to court, on the child (he said sarcastically).

It's bad enough that kids can be cruel but now teachers too? [grin] Actually I think the lawsuit is a bit ridiculous also.

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it was mean. My 6th grade teacher, the ever cute Mr. Chiari (pronounced Key-Are-E), told us up front that if we smelled bad he would tell us, but privately.

It's another frivolous lawsuit. The parents should be careful, the judge could easily ask why they are sending their child to school unclean.

Here's hoping that Irish Spring or Right Guard will sponsor televising this on Court TV

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
LOL.. it would be a slow day on Court TV for this one.

If they win, I'm TOTALLY going after my old high school for letting the trigonometry teacher call me a fag in class!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
He actually called you that??? Oh geez! Yeah, he should have been called to the mat on that one.

[identity profile] shimbexprovides.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! Called to the mat... Did I mention he was also my wrestling coach?

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! I've obviously forgotten to tell you about my psychic abilities :)

[identity profile] rockyjohn.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
I got picked on and teased a lot too when I was in high school. Maybe I should call a lawyer...

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I got teased mercilessly in high school. I wouldn't repeat it for any amount of money. I take great pleasure in knowing that I escaped that little town unlike so many of them.

[identity profile] rockyjohn.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
lol, you sound just like me! :)

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Well, great minds think alike :)

[identity profile] daltxfurry.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Ditto.....I was picked on and hassled a LOT in high school. How I made it out of there without slitting my wrists is beyond me!! :-)

Didn't help that I wasn't part of any of ythe cliques either. I wasn't a stoner or jock or surfer or redneck or rah-rah. I had friends in all those groups, but I was the geeky kid sitting off to the side of their worlds.

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I was one of those kids that lived on the fringe of all of the other groups and I had my share of suicidal thoughts back then. I guess that is why I have such disdain for high school and high school sports in general. You couldn't pay me enough to repeat high school again, but I'd do college over in a heartbeat!!! What a difference.

[identity profile] daltxfurry.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ditto. I think junior high and high school students are some of the most mean-spirited, vicious people in the world. I only did a few clubs and the school plays and musicals. Of course doing that didn't really increase my social and popularity rate at all. Hehheh

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I can relate! I was editor of the school paper and on the yearbook staff, I couldn't have gotten less popular if I tried.

[identity profile] daltxfurry.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah book staff my junior year and editor my senior yeah....and worst I was on the prom committee my senior year...couldn't even get a date. I stopped trying after the 13th girl laughed in my face

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Obviously the straight girls had no idea what they were missing! I didn't take a date to the prom. In fact, most of the guys and gals I hung out with didn't, we all went stag and had a blast.

[identity profile] daltxfurry.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
We weren't allowed to go stag to ours...date was required...

And yeah....they didn't know what they were missing. I had a job and $$ to spend...they coulda had a GOOD night

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
You HAD to have a date??? How sick is that! Ours was a closed prom, meaning if you weren't a student at that school you couldn't come. I think they didn't make us have a date to avoid the awkwardness of it, as so many kids at my school actually dated others from surrounding high schools.

...and those whiny teen bitches missed out on you, tiger! Their loss!!! You're hairy and woofy while they are likely fat and burdened with multiple kids and stretch marks.

[identity profile] daltxfurry.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Some of them are yes...I saw pics from my 20 year reunion last August. I couldn't go but I saw pics. Man...some of those folks have AGED!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL.. some of us age better than others :D

[identity profile] daltxfurry.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah......and I noticed that some of the ladies had quite a bit of work done!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, one of the sweet joys of being a man, we tend to not have to deal with having "work done"... at least not as quickly as the ladies.

[identity profile] daltxfurry.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Very true....but always interesting to see the guys who always had to check their hair and kept combs in their backpocket....now they have a major recedeing hairline or have just lost most of it...always sweet irony/justice I thought

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL.. it happens to the best of us :)

[identity profile] daltxfurry.livejournal.com 2005-02-18 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well of course.......So when your next reunion and would you take your steady guy with you?

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-02-19 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
My next one isn't until 2010. Seeing how I am from rural and ultraconservative, yet redneck KY, I'm not sure if I'd take him with me if I had a steady at the time. To my next college reunion, I'd definitely want to show my man off ;)
