The Pits...

Today I found out that I'm going to be moved to a new desk at work. Now while this doesn't sound like the end of the world, it does irritate me a bit. I was moved to this desk, in a room with one other person, with windows and some privacy a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, my office mate got a promotion and will be getting his own office. My branch really cannot justify that large room for one body, so I'm joining the crew in cubicle city -- no windows, little privacy.

I'm trying to be as amicable about this as I can, but most of the empty cubicles are in high traffic areas, which I can see as a problem. I'm rather stuck with it, I'm afraid. I guess what really pisses me off is that I had a prime location before the move to the private office and now can't reclaim it, even though I was made to move by management before. I haven't raised a fuss, because I do see the branch's point of view.

Strange moment of the day: I was cleaning my car in my driveway earlier this evening, an old lady walked by and asked if I was moving. I asked what she meant. She said that she never sees anyone living at my house and heard I was moving. I said no, she trudges away. Senility, table for one...

How dare they move you? You know what you should do? Quit and move to Somerset. That would show them.

LOL! That would show them! Know of any jobs down there? I hear McDonald's is hiring... :)

Whatever. You know very well that your employer's employer's employer likes setting up shop in remote areas :P

If they can't justify the big room for one person, why not suggest that they move someone else in with you, instead of you out to them?

See, this is why you don't work for government -- rational thinking is not allowed! ;)
