Three-Day Weekend Round-Up

Whew! What makes the three-day weekends go by so fast? Not that I did much.

Friday, I spent the bulk of the after-work day doing the usual – workout, clean house, etc. I’m in comic-book-drawing mode right now, so I’m spending a lot of time drawing pages for the upcoming comic.

Saturday, I worked out, had lunch, spent several hours drawing at the local library. I find that a change in setting helps me focus a bit. No distractions like at home that can bog me down. I got through a fair number of pages. However, it wasn’t without distraction as the library has this VERY burly bear named Eric working the circulation desk. His shaved head, thick black and long beard, and fit body had me looking at him over and over during the time there. I tried to do some stealth photography with my phone, but it just didn’t work out. Needless to say, I’m thinking I’ll be heading back there again sometime to … um… draw more.

After my drawing endeavors, I met up with a buddy for dinner and a movie. We saw “As Above, So Below.” Don’t. Just … don’t. The first half was amazingly boring, the second half was amazingly confusing, and Hollywood just needs to quit it with the damn hand-held, footage movies, as it’s making me ill. The acting was a bit better than usual, but … wow… it just sucked. And the sad part was.. it wasn’t really that scary.

Sunday, I was invited to a fireworks-viewing party at a friend’s house near the Ohio River. I hate crowds and that location was going to become a traffic nightmare so I passed. More drawing instead. Monday was pretty much more of the same.

So, my three-day weekend was pretty low-key. How was yours?

Ah, yes .. but your weekend was filled with creativity and a couple of outings! When I have a creative spout and times passes, even if I don't leave the house, I feel really good and fulfilled:)

Librarians have changed a lot since the last time I spent time in a library! :)

My weekend ? I can't even remember except for Sunday evening when I went two-stepping, as I usually do, and yesterday when I went back to the State Fair. Tim and I have been watching "Outlander" which is quite good; oh, and I watched quite a bit of college football and US Open Tennis over the weekend:)

Yes, I am happy to say that the days of the mousy librarian stereotype may be a thing of the past. If Eric had been a librarian in the days when I was a kid, I'd have spent MANY an afternoon there looking for him.

As you know, I worked all weekend. We were short handed every night, plus the big shock was that one of the team leads was scheduled and didn't show up. I could have worked a lot longer yesterday but I was pooped out.

School starts tomorrow, joy.

The team lead just didn't show, or he called in? Yikes. Yeah, that doesn't look suspicious on a holiday weekend (/sarcasm). Nice for the rest of you.

There was a post-doc from another department at Einstein when I started there that I couldn't get enough of...BIG man, great wide back and awesome shoulders and arms. I needed to do a lot of library work then, and it was before online journals and pdfs, so...........Funny how he always ended up at a Table across from me or in the carrel next to mine. ;-)

It was sometimes challenging! At one point, I asked him about working out together, and we eventually became friends...Not THAT friendly though. LOL. We still exchanged email messages for awhile, after we left Einstein. Last I heard from him, he had moved back to CA to take care of his elderly Mom.

I got a piano Saturday so I spent some time practicing... also taking the dogs to PetSmart to get some grooming and toys. And a nice low-key pool party.
