Deliver Us From Evil
After work today, I went to see a matinee of Deliver Us From Evil.
The story revolves round a series of odd events, people acting unusual, and a NYPD cop and his partner investigating these instances and finding the link. They encounter a hot priest along the way and discover that these people are possessed. Eric Bana plays the cop, Édgar Ramírez is the priest. I was impressed how well Bana does a NY accent considering he's Australian.
It has a few good moments that would count for action, but it really didn't have any scares in it for a horror movie. It had some good scenes that would have been frightening if the direction had been right, but I felt they telegraphed the moments so I saw them coming.
Overall, I'd say save your money and rent it if you absolutely want to see it.

Dammit! I was really hoping this would prove to be an exception to the mediocre-horror-film phase Hollywood's been going through!!!
Thanks for the heads up.
