A Day Off
I took today off. When I went to bed last night, I really didn't even bother setting the alarm. Luckily, I have a lot of vacation time to burn through, so it was a good decision.
After I goofed off a bit this morning, I went for a run, followed by mowing the yard, so the cardio workout was done quickly. After lunch, I settled in to work on inking pages of the next issue of "Grizzly and The Bear Patrol." I was four pages away from having the interiors all inked, so it was good to spend time doing that. Next I get to start the coloring process. At 45-60 minutes a page, it's going to take a bit of time.
Here's a panel that turned out fairly well and doesn't give any spoilers. Grizzly looks GRRREAT (if I do say so myself), but I admit the background is a bit weak. The large open panel with no background to the right of Grizzly is on purpose. It's where the text of the panel is going to go. I routinely do that, plotting out where the speech bubbles are going to go and leaving that area undrawn. I see no reason to add detailed artwork where no one will see it. It will definitely look better in color.

Can't wait to see the finished result!
I remember how, when I used to write & draw my own comics, I had to plan where all the word & thought balloons would go- it wasn't easy!
But it was fun....!
