Out on a Saturday Night

There was a lot of things I didn't get done this weekend, but I don't necessarily regret it.

Saturday night, I met up with Brian (cincycub) and his sweetie, along with a friend Dustin and a new and adorable couple, Geoff and Terry, for Thai food in an area near Cincinnati's Mount Adams area. I've lived here for over 15 years now and I generally never go to Mt. Adams, because it's primarily a bar area and the college kids often overrun it on the weekends. Still, it has some really cool restaurants.

I liked the restaurant, but the service was unbelievably slow and our food was lukewarm when it arrived over the course of two hours there. Complaints were raised and gift cards were provided. After dinner, we walked to a little underground tavern called "The Blind Lemon" for drinks. I got a hot chocolate with butterscotch schnapps, which was delicious.

Not wanting the evening to end, Dustin suggested we go to the new local casino, the Horseshoe Casino. It opened a year or so ago, but I'd not been in it. I'm not against gambling, but it's never really been my thing. So we trekked to it in mass and started playing games. While some games make sense, like slots, others of them are confusing, like slots with five rows and multiple ways to make connections. I was down $30 and was getting worn down, but my friends were at a "Michael Jackson" slot like game. I parked myself into one of the chairs which had speakers near the head and played music. I put in another $20 and after three hits, it went wild with "free spins" and the points just started racking up. When it finally finished, after going through the full song of "Smooth Criminal," I had won $116. Minus the $50 I had put into the machines, I had made $66. I decided to quit while I was far ahead.

We finished up around 1 AM and I went home. It was a pretty good evening, a full night out and I'd not done that in a while.

I needed that. Back to work tomorrow. Ugh.

Nice evening!

I can't remember the last time I was out that late. LOL.

It's nice every once in a while, but I was dragging toward the end. Thanks to coffee I survived.

It does sound like fun, especially with that group of friends! It's good you were able to stop when you were ahead at the casino .. most people can't.

When I was in Cincinnati in 1995-96, there was an anniversary party for Phantom. I think it was the tour's fourth anniversary. The party was on Mt Adams in a restaurant with a lovely view of the city. Do you be chance know where that might be?

Have a great week!

HUGS!

I wish I knew enough about Mt. Adams to know which restaurant it was. I've really only been there twice in the last 15 years, as I never was much of a pub crawler.

This was an elegant restaurant. I wish I could remember.

Good to hear you had a good time - and came out on top!

Maybe I should get myself to a casino..?

Take a limited amount of money with you. It can get a bit crazy in there :)

I usually allow myself to lose $10 in the slots then play blackjack. Glad you had a fun time and hope you spend your winnings on something fun and fivolous.

I was tempted to try blackjack, but those tables were CRAZY busy.

I'll find a use for the money, trust me :)

I think you and I have very similar views on casinos and when to quit! While you are ahead!
