The Punisher and New Friends

I'm in my hometown for the weekend. I haven't been here in two months, so I figured it was time to put in an appearance. Everyone had plans, as usual, so I called an internet buddy from Middlesboro and he and his partner came over for dinner and a movie last night.

Stewart is a cute, friendly guy from Scotland, full blown accent and everything, and, of course, I love to hear him speak. He's a bit self-conscious about it, because we Americans always love a foreign accent and Scots ones are a favorite. His partner Dave is like me, a hillbilly, same accent as mine for the most part. Dave is a nice furry bear of a guy and a great conversationalist.

After dinner at Ruby Tuesday's, we went to the movies to see The Punisher, which was great, and not only because furry chested Thomas Jane runs around half dressed for most of the movie. There was lots of good action and a lot more humor than I would have expected. John Travolta plays a good villian. Good movie, good new buddies, a great night.

Vicariously ...

I hope you're having a nice weekend, Mark. Sounds like it so far. I have to tell you, believe it or not, that I'm envious. I've been missing KY. Not so much the old hometown I don't think. It's more Louisville and the state in general, but some of the old hometown things (like the Root Beer Stand) are certainly factoring in too. It didn't help that there was a special on the Food Network tonight about the chicken festival in London. Good gracious.
