Weekend Movie and Cartoonies

The weekend was a good one.

On Saturday, a group of us went to see "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters." The reviews were horrible, but I admit that really enjoyed the movie and the guys liked it too. It was full of action, some decent acting, and a bit of anachronistic bitchiness. One of my friends said it was like a SyFy movie with a better budget and better acting.

After the movie, we went in mass to a local Italian place called "Bueno Vita" for dinner. The food was excellent, the waiters were cute, and the conversation was was you expect when a group of gay men are together. A couple of my friends who joined us that night are going to Scotland to work for six months. I'm very envious after just having been there. So it was good to spend time with them.

Sunday was a day of laundry and television. I didn't even get out of the house. I did do a bit a drawing. Again, I'm monkeying around with new designs for the upcoming comic. They are behind the spoiler cut to save space. They are work-safe.

The Scientist

This is the general design for the scientist. I thought the robes would be a good substitute for a lab coat. I'm still considering other things here, so this isn't likely a finished design.

The Mad Ruler

In trying to come up with a "general" look for an extradimensional culture. As these folks are supposed to have visited our world, there would be some influences, but there still should be some differences. However, this culture should be less inhibited by our standards, which is why there are a lot of skin. I've considered this character to be an upstart ruler or such.

I barely left the house yesterday. It was grey and gloomy, cold and snowy. It was the first time we've had fresh snow in awhile. Could you inter-dimensional characters be a different color. There's a hint in the first drawing of the scientist that he might be ... oh say ... green:)

Hugs!

I'd not thought of them being different colors other than the ones on Earth. I imagined them being various human flesh tones because they're supposed to be a human offshoot from here. It's an interesting idea though.

I always thought the previews to Hansel & Gretel looked good, sort of a Van Helsing type movie but with witches instead of vampires, and Jeremy Renner is always good to look at no matter what.

Van Helsing is a good comparison to this movie actually. And Jeremy is cute, not ideally my taste, but cute.

A scientist needs glasses... everybody knows that!

It's on 8 in Dayton, KY. If you came out of the Levee parking, just go straight ahead, past Buckhead and Urban Active, and it's about a mile down on the left.
