Softball Games and Pennies Saved
We had a double-header last night (a term I had to describe to a very handsome Aussie online ealier in the day). It's getting to be that time of the year when we may not have enough players despite having 18 people on the roster. Last night, we only had eight show up and we need at least nine to play. Luckily, our league is pretty good about letting us borrow the stray player from another tearm, so our opposing team lent us their bench warmer, a lovely little Lesbian named Emily who sported "Beaver" on her jersey back. As a side note, Emily is a drag king who goes by Justin Beaver, and I think that's fantastic.
With the Beav's help, we actually beat her team by two runs. Since she had the split games (the 6 PM and the 9 PM), she and another player on her team played for us the second game at 8 PM. We won that one by ten runs. It was a great night and I got a few good hits myself so I'm happy.
On the way home I stopped to get gas and a Sprite Zero at the local gas station. The clerk was there solo and in dire need of pennies. I can only imagine what that feeling must be like to be at work late with no support. So I managed to count out 125 pennies from my car change for him. He was thrilled. My good deed for the night.
Oh, but it's rough and sore morning at 5 AM.
