Dynamo

Softball games were canceled last night due to rain we had earlier in the day. It seemed like it would have warmed up enough to play, but I'm guessing that they couldn't recover one or more of the four fields my league plays on. Boo!

So after a much needed nap after my first day back to work, I revisited a drawing I'd worked on the night before. This character is based on a friend who wanted "healing powers." Sadly, such powers are dull by themselves, so I elaborated on it as giving him control over a human body by touch. He can amplify the senses, drain or increase energy, cause or control muscle movements, and exert other controls over the body's normal functions (yeah, there are some cool possibilities there).

I searched the web for cool superhero names but none seemed to stick, so I tried for one energetic, yet non-descriptive. "Dynamo" isn't the best, but it's slowly growing on me.

Happy Wednesday!

I've been mentally toying around with the idea of crossing Sebastain Shaw with a telekinetic, instead of channeling kinetic energy to his strength, he would use it for his telekinetic talent. Not even kickstart his ability, he needs to take a beating. The more kinetic energy his absorbs, the more he can shuffle around.

Just thinking out loud...

Sounds like it could be a very cool character.

He's yours, if he kinda sorta looks like me...

I think all of those powers (except generic "healing", if he's still got it) can be implemented as direct manipulation of the target's nervous system, so I say call him Axon or Synapse.

Actually, you could do some interesting stuff with pseudo-healing even so: "I can't actually repair your injuries, but I can block the pain so you can keep fighting. Let's just make sure we get you to the hospital as soon as we're done here..."

Cool character!

Thanks!

I think I pictured him as being able to enhance and amplify or neutralize the functions of others. He could supercharge their hearing to cause pain, block their optic nerve to make them blind, or amplify their natural healing ability to let them recover faster.

Oh, totally. My point was -- and it was somewhat surprising to me to realize this -- I think that nearly all (most? a whole lot?) of those function enhancements (except rate of healing) could be accomplished solely by fiddling with the nervous system, and the idea of framing it that way struck me as limiting/constraining the power in an interesting way.

(Of course, I think creative use of very specific powers is really fun, so...)

Thanks :)
