Weekend Recap

Friday night was fun. I went to see "Miss Magnolia Beaumont Goes to Provincetown," a one-may play that was popular in the Cincinnati Fringe Festival last year. It was very humorous and a bit enchanting. I'm always impressed how one actor can memorize 90 minutes worth of dialogue, especially when doing multiple characters. I wish it ran for more than a couple of performances over the weekend, as it really is worth seeing twice.

Saturday was odds and ends until the evening when I went to my friends' monthly game night potluck. It was a smaller crowd that usual, but I suspect the three-day weekend had something to do with that.

Dwindling PencilSunday was a day where I didn't even leave the house. I think days like that are needed every now and then. I tossed a roast in my crockpot late the night before and woke up to the smell of it permeating the house. The cats were loving it, I'm sure. I spent most of the day doing laundry, cleaning house, and taking a nap. I did squeeze in a bit of drawing and movie watching.

Yesterday was pretty much more of the same. I sent off a "Happy Birthday" text to the long-LJ-MIA [livejournal.com profile] cubtharsis, worked out, ate lunch, etc. I noticed that for the first time in a long while I have sharpened a pencil down to this size. These pencils aren't special, I get them at training courses and whatever, but I often lose them long before they can get this short. I guess I've been drawing a lot lately.

Happy Tuesday (and Substitute Monday)...

I hope this one man show travels and more of us can see it! I really like this shot of you drawing ...

Have a wonderful week!

Thanks! This page is actually finished, leaving space for the word bubbles that will fill the empty space.

I hope you're having a great week too!

oooooooh, I remember pencils. I haven't used one of those in years! Seems like I only ever use pen, or the computer.

I usually only use pens at work or when doodling, but projects I don't want to screw up still require something with an eraser. I would LOVE a tablet big enough to draw on the computer with such accuracy but they are pricey!

You're right handed!

LOL! Oh yeah!

I have tons of pencils laying about, and frequently pick the bluntest, grungiest one to start a drawing with - probably because it keeps me from getting too uptight about achieving the perfection I envision (and don't necessarily get).

Your drawing looks like it's going really well. Cheers!

It sounds strange, but sometimes the little ones help with the details. I'm sure it's psychological.

And I finished up the 21 pages of the next comic that night. I'm in inking phase now.

... of course, I still have to draw the cover...

The show sounds intriguing..I bet I'd like to see it. There's another one-person show I'd recommend, about a German cross-dresser (weird title, which I may not recall exactly right: I Am My Own Wife). If you come across a production of that play, it's worth a ticket.

I'll have to keep my eye open for that show. Miss Magnolia Beaumont was a hoot. The way the one actor jumps from character to character was fun. :)
